Speech Final Draft

Nearly 1/2 of the world's population live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty less than $1.25 a day. 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.  Do you hear these facts! Like seriously, $1.25, you can only buy a can of pop with that. Imagine trying to split that between your families to get a whole day’s meal worth. There is no way my family and I could survive in those circumstances. That is why all those kids are dying. 22,000 kids dying a day, which are about 7.6 million children dying every year. Some of those kids are dying right beside us. You might not know this but Toronto has the highest child poverty rate in Canada. People around you right now might even be experiencing poverty. We got to stop this before poverty affects more people like friends, neighbors or even your own families.
80% of the world lives of 10 dollars a day. That also means that 4/5 of the world live is in poverty and 4/5 of the kids of the future will be born in poverty.  Most kids won’t even have a good family life. Even worse is that the kids who are born into extreme cases of poverty will like most kids not live over the age of five. This isn't fair at all; average kids have a life expectancy of seventy or over while kids in extreme poverty will have an average life expectancy of less than five. We could be in there situation. Actually it is more likely to be in poverty than not to be because it is
I actually lived in a neighborhood where there was a fair amount of poverty. One day, one of my friends who experience poverty told me about his life. He described a situation he was once in. He told the thoughts that were going in his mind at the time. His thoughts were ‘I'm Hungry. I'm hungry. There isn't anything left in the cupboard. My cell phone has been disconnected. I've run out of quarters. The internet I'm using is the neighbor's. I still have power. Not for longer. I'm hungry and I feel weak. For a while it was okay. I was too...’ I was shocked about his revelation. He told me this is how he felt most of time in his life. I feel the need to help people in his situation. I just hope that with proper help, he or anyone will not feel like that.
Imagine if you feel asleep hungry, woke up and couldn't still eat a meal. Imagine if you couldn't get an education while the other kids around you can go to school. How would you feel if this was happening to you? I can’t even comprehend how people can even stand living like this but they are living against it. They are experiencing the horrendous thing called poverty. They are trying to make the best out of their situation and we can’t even help them. We should give these kids an education, money and freedom from poverty. If we used less than one percent of what the world uses for weapons, we could put every kid in school in 2001. The world still doesn't do this because they don’t think it affect them and their lives
I don’t understand why people just ignore this tragedy. Poverty doesn't affect only the poor it affects us. If this cycle continues than the world is just in store for more tragedy. Most kids our age don’t get a childhood or even a life after the age of five. They just die and don’t even get mentioned while the world gets hung-over by gossip about celebrities. We don’t even report the kids dying all over the world in the news. We should show empathy to these kids and act to make poverty history. As once Nelson Mandela said “While poverty persists, there is no true freedom”.

Light and Shadow

Image result for sun and shadow

"To light a light is to cast a shadow. one cannot exist without another"

I think this quote means where there is better, there is worse. This make sense since the definition of better is being superior and for something to superior, something must be lower. There are many example for my point of view on this quote. For example, Where there is joy, there is sadness. Where there is nice, there is mean. Where there is love, there is heartbreak, and finally where there is rich, there is poverty. There is always a bad side because you can't say something is good, without something that is bad.

There are many shadow I have cast over myself. Every choice, action and reaction is a shadow I have cast over myself. I believe this because even thought you do something that might be good for you, it might backfire or cause a domino effect for something worse to happen to you. For example, if you eat an apple in your fridge, it might be good for you but you might choke on it or what if someone in your family needs that apple to make pie or something. they could get mad at you, and then all sorts of other trouble could happen. So basically, I believe that everything you do cast a shadow on you, everything is a risk. Every I did, am doing or will do, will cast a shadow over me.

A character that I read about a few days ago has a big shadow. This character was born with all kind of powers. He has any power you can think of: Mind Control, Pyrokinesis, Telepathy, teleportation, telekinesis, Invisibility X ray-vision Clairvoyance and more. He is so powerful that he brainwashed the world into thinking that having pink hair like his was normal. He said he could destroy humanity in three days. He even considers himself a new stage of evolution but that is not a good life to him. He said that his sense of accomplishment is ruined by ability to do everything. His sense of surprise is ruined by his precognition. He feel no angry, sorrow and sadness. He said everything was taken away from him at birth.

Journal Response: Music I Hate

If there is one song I hate, it is "Amnesia" by 5 Seconds to Summer. This song just rubs me the wrong way. It isn't the kind of song I like to listen to at all. There are many reason why I don't like this song. First It is a sad song, this isn't really a big deal to me, because there is many other sad song I like. I just prefer songs that are fun, exciting and don't make me sad. This song is sad, very sad and I rather not listen to it but the sadness isn't what I hate about it. Trust me, if the sadness was the only wrong with song with it, I might have have even liked it but there are many other thing wrong with this song. Another thing wrong with it is it's lyrics. The lyrics are just useless, completely useless to me. It just doesn't make sense to me. This song is about a guy who lost the girl he loves and now he isn't over her while she is over him. he want it to go back to the time when she was with him. I don't get why someone would brood over something so much. Like seriously, you can't change the past, so why stress it. He should just move on because the girl in the song did to. In the song, it says"It hurts to know you're happy, yeah, it hurts that you've moved on". The guy in the song, is just selfish. He is saying he loves her but he is trying to take her away from a place where she is happy. These lyric just don't make sense to me. The last thing that thing that annoys about this song is the actually beats. Maybe the beats annoy me because it is the combination of the lyrics and the fact that it is a sad song, but this song's beats just make me hate this song even more. So to conclude I give this song 0/10.

Art Sketch: Knose

I choose this piece because it was one of the first tries of me making a nose sketch. It was also one of the best nose I have drawn. This nose was probably the only nose drawing that I completely finished (with the exception of my final copy) and didn't abandon through the middle. This sketch is probably the hardest one I did because it was my first time drawing it and to me, the nose was the hardest thing to draw.

Does Social Media have a positive or negative affect on children's mental health?

Well when you look at social media sites like Facebook or Twitter in general perspective, you see that these are sites that are used to communicate to people, to socialize. These sites are used to make friends and communicate with them. That is the main purpose of social media, to socialize. If these are used to get and talk to friend, then they can't be bad to a child's mental health but this is one part of these sites. These sites have many bad parts too.
One bad part would be that is everything you post it is stuck there forever. You can put a picture of you doing something that is embarrassing. People could make fun of you for it, and you would never be able to get rid of the picture. Someone could take a screenshot of your photo and print it. Since the picture is stuck on the internet forever, it could even affect your future. For example, some jobs do a background check on people. They check the social media sites that are registered in your name. If they see the picture, they might judge and give someone else the job. The idea of being made fun and hurt your future will probably affect your mental health in a bad way.
Another bad part of these sites are the racist or biased post of other people. Some people say very racist things about other people's cultures. They are stereotypical and judge people by what other people do. This could really make someone feel bad about their culture; they will be ashamed of their background, culture and etc. Examples of racist comments are the one aimed at Mayweather win over Pacquiao. They called him nigger and many other atrocious words. Words that could make many people feel bad.
There are many other bad parts of social media that make people feel bad about them and it also damages their mental health. There are some parts of these sites that are fun and it helps you communicate to friends but I think that the bad over weighs that good. It ca damage your mental health really badly. To conclude I think that the Social Media sites have a negative impact a child's mental health.

Favorite Journal Response: Which would you be a Super Hero or Super Villain?

Image result for joker

I would rather be a Super Villain. If I was a super villain, I wouldn't have to follow the rules. I could do what I want when I want. Also I wouldn't have to do things like save people, prioritize the safety of citizens and all the other boring things superhero do. In a fight between equally matched superhero and me, I would pulverize him because while I am completely focused on overpowering him, he is more focused on the safety of the bystanders. His first goal is to prevent any harm coming on to innocent people. That is why I would win. For example, I would just have to make a few buildings fall down on the path of some random kids. The superhero would focus his attention on saving the kids. Then while he isn't focused on me, I will literally stab him in the back. Finally I would beat him. I could use this strategy and even beat people who are infinitely more stronger. This is the reason why I would be a super villain and because we, villains, have infinite possibilities. There are many evil things we could do and many rules we could break. Unlike superheroes, who can only save people and stop acts of evil, villains have more variety of things to choose from. We could rob banks, steal stuff, break things, hurt people, and destroy people lives. To me, being a villain is more interesting and I like being a villain because I feel something so right by doing the wrong thing.
